Beam Me Up Scotty

The whole world now knows that they are being spied on by the U.S. Government, thanks to N.S.A. whistle blower, Edward Snowden. All communications in the U.S. and abroad. All phone calls, all texts, e-mails, etc. are being monitored from regular U.S. citizens to World Leaders. ( hell they’re the only one’s that read my blog, lol )

Snowden first leaked classified documents back in May 2013  to the Guardian, the British daily newspaper, revealing the existence of PRISM  a clandestine mass electronic surveillance data mining program run by the National Security Agency (NSA). For this he was charged by federal prosecutors with espionage and theft of government property. Snowden fled the United States first to China and then on to Russia, where he has been granted political asylum within Russian borders.

But really does any of this come as a surprise? It’s common knowledge that The Office of Total Information Awareness (TIA) was created during the Bush Administration. They’ve been creating enormous computer databases to gather and store the personal information of everyone in the United States, including personal e-mails, social networks, credit card records, phone calls, medical records, and numerous other sources, without any requirement for a search warrant.  But get this as recently reported by PBS the room where all this being orchestrated from, known as the Information Dominance Center is modelled on the bridge of the Star Trek’s Enterprise!

“The base of operations, a facility known as the Information Dominance Center, has been designed by a Hollywood set designer to mimic the bridge of the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek, complete with chrome panels, computer stations, a huge TV monitor on the forward wall, and doors that make a ‘whoosh’ sound when they slid open and closed. Lawmakers and other important officials took turns sitting in a leather ‘captain’s chair’ in the center of the room and watched as ( NSA Chief ) Alexander, a lover of science-fiction movies, showed off his data tools on the big screen. Everybody wanted to sit in the chair at least once to pretend he was Jean-Luc Picard,’ says a retired officer in charge of VIP visits.”
