Happy Easter to all my peeps!

Standard

imagesCAIJH5MDHappyEasterBunny

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, you know the drill, if Jesus comes out of his tomb and sees his shadow we’ll have another 500 more years of Christianity, so get ready to set your clocks back half a millennium A.D. and break out the jellybean and peeps casserole or whatever it is you do and let’s get ready to party. Sure we all know eggs and bunnies are Pagan fertility symbols that the Holy Roman Catholic Church swiped somewhere along the way and the life of a chocolate Easter Bunny is lonely and hollow, but don’t let that put a damper on your Spring Clean for the May Queen if you know what I’m saying.

No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish,

Standard

USE

Signs saying ‘No Blacks – No Dogs – No Irish‘ was a common sight in the windows of boarding houses after WWII in London. Revisionists now say it’s all a myth but prejudice against the Irish in Great Britain is a well documented historical fact. The Civil Rights Movement for Blacks in America was just starting in the 1950’s and look at the pecking order, Irish is bottom of the list. That’s why in the 1960’s England’s greatest musical export, the Beatles who were from first generation Irish immigrant families to a man, never revealed their true nationality. Liverpool had long been the gateway to the Irish being only 6 – 7 hours away by boat, but down in London the Irish weren’t welcome and their manager Brian Epstein, who knew something about prejudice being both Gay and Jewish, cannily advised them to not let on. ‘No Blacks – No Dogs – No Irish‘ is also the title of a book by another well known British musical export who was Irish, Johnny Rotten lead singer of the seminal punk rock band the Sex Pistols.

So now it’s the the 21st century conditions have improved greatly for Blacks, Dogs, and even the Irish. It’s those goddamn Welsh we can’t stand!

Mucho Chavismo

Standard

           chavismo enfermo

Say what you will about Hugo Chavez, but you can’t deny he had Mucho Chavismo. Political cohones. Wikipedia defines : Chavismo as the name given to the left-wing political ideology based on the ideas, programs and government style associated with the late president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez. Chavista is a term to describe strong supporters of Chavez, which is closely associated with support for Chavismo. I don’t know that much about specificsof his politics but Noam Chomsky had kind words for him. I know he banned Halloween and Coke Zero and called George Bush the devil.  Gotta love that. So what now that he’s gone? Is there is enough Chavistas with Chavismo out there to keep the Capitalists at bay? Who’s going to look after Uncle Fidel? Is Marxist Socialism finally vanquished from the America’s for good?

don’t be hating, Dennis Rodman…

don’t be hating Denis Rodman says…He recently befriended Kim Jong Un, the playboy dictator of North Korea. “You have a friend for life,” Rodman told him after the two men sat next to each other watching a basketball game. Here’s what the Washington Times reported: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (left) and former NBA star Dennis Rodman watch North Korean and U.S. players in an exhibition basketball game at an arena in Pyongyang, North Korea, on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. Mr. Rodman arrived in Pyongyang last Monday with three members of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team to shoot an episode on North Korea for a new weekly HBO series. So Dennis Rodman comes back to the U.S. and is subjected to criticism from all sides but just maybe he gets Obama to call Kim Jong Un and they bond over the love of b-ball because they’re both old school ballers at heart and they call off nuclear war and we all live happily ever after. Then we’d have to kiss Dennis Rodman’s butt for saving our ass. Sorry for the unpleasant visual.

Rodman said he was aware of North Korea’s human-rights record,  but said he wasn’t apologizing for Kim. “He’s a good guy to me,” Rodman said, adding, that “as a person to person, he’s my friend. I don’t condone what he does.” When George Stephanopoulos presented Rodman with a study from Human Rights Watch about human rights abuses in North Korea.Rodman responded: “Well either way, either way — guess what, though — guess what — thank you for the report. Guess what, guess what, don’t hate me. Don’t hate me. Guess what. Don’t hate me. Guess what. Don’t hate me.” Stephanopoulos later tweeted:

North Korea has threatened the United  States with a preemptive nuclear strike, raising the level of rhetoric while the UN security council considers new sanctions against the reclusive country.North Korea has accused the United States of using military drills in South Korea as a launch pad for a nuclear war and said it will scrap the armistice with Washington that ended hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War.”Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to preemptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest,” the North’s foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

North Korea conducted a third nuclear test on February 12th, in defiance of UN resolutions, and declared it had achieved progress in securing a functioning atomic arsenal. It is widely believed the North does not have the capacity to deliver a nuclear strike on the mainland United States. The North’s unnamed foreign ministry spokesman also said it would be entitled to take military action as of March 11th when US-South Korea military drills move into a full-scale phase as it had declared the truce as invalid.

It is the latest in an escalation of tough words from both sides of the armed Korean border this week as the UN security council deliberates a resolution to tighten financial sanctions and a naval blockade against the North.North Korea has protested against the UN censures of its rocket launches, which it says are part of peaceful space programme, as an exercise of double standard masterminded by the United States. But North Korea’s shrill rhetoric rarely goes beyond just that. Its latest armed aggression against the South in 2010 came unannounced, bombing a South Korean island killing two civilians. It is widely accused of sinking a South Korean navy ship earlier in the year, killing 46 sailors.

North Korea is conducting a series of military drills and is getting ready for state-wide war practice of an unusual scale, South Korea’s defence ministry said earlier today. South Korea and the United States, which are conducting annual military drills until the end of April, are watching the North’s activities for signs they turn from an exercise to an actual attack, a South Korean official said.”It hasn’t been frequent that the North conducted military exercise at the state level,” South Korea’s defence ministry spokesman, Kim Min-seok, said. “The North is currently conducting various drills on land, at sea and aerially.

“We are watching the North’s activities and stepping up readiness under the assumption that these drills can lead to provocation at any time.” Mr Kim declined to confirm news reports that the North has imposed no-fly zones off its coasts in a possible move to fire missiles, but he said any flight ban limited to near the coast would not be for weapons with meaningful ranges. In the latest threat coming under its new young leader, Kim Jong-un, a senior North Korean general said on Tuesday that Pyongyang was scrapping the armistice. But the two sides remain technically at war as the civil war did not end with a treaty. South Korea’s military said in a rare warning yesterday that it would strike back at the North and target its leadership if Pyongyang launched an attack.
